Play The Scene

Scene One, Act One
Stage left stands Rosemary, age twenty-nine
She takes a breath as
Her fingers dance along the handle of a kitchen knife

He cut out all her lines
Now she has to improvise

How you gonna play the scene this time?

A red rose is blooming
On the sheet on the body lying on the floor
A young man in uniform
Takes Rosemary by the hand and leads her to the door

And the neighbours move aside
As she steps into the light

How you gonna play the scene this time?
